Daylight Savings and Your Thermostat
Programmable and digital thermostats operate on a schedule, usually four
periods each day. This saves money by allowing comfort systems to
operate at lower capacity overnight and during non-peak periods of
occupancy. Many programmable thermostats have an option that allows them
to update their clock automatically for time changes due to daylight
saving time however, some do not. Be sure to check your thermostats to make sure the time has been changed correctly.
Daylight savings is also a great reminder to change the batteries in
your thermostat as well as your smoke detector. Batteries in these
devices can almost always be changed without the use of tools. IC
Mechanical recommends you change the batteries on these devices at least once a year
with daylight savings being a great reminder.
